Three large outdoor benches allow Amsterdammers to relax and meet
Commissioned by Stadsdeel Amsterdam Nieuw-West, Grijsen park & street design has placed three kingsize benches along Westlandgracht, at the back of the World Fashion Centre, with a total length of 52 meters and a width of almost three meters. The design is by architect Guido Hermans. The Westlandgracht is located in the west of Amsterdam and is named after the Westland. Along it runs a green strip and a frequently used bicycle path. A beautiful location without a place where people could sit and relax.

Relax, meet, rest and enjoy
The challenge was to create a place where people can relax, meet, rest, and enjoy. Now that the place has been equipped with these three seating elements, the location can grow into a wonderful meeting place. You can sit, lie and relax in the sun. Also in the winter, it is a nice base for everyone who comes to skate.
Boat-like design
All three benches have the same boat-like design. The base of the three benches consists of a galvanized steel frame. The seat and back are made of FSC® 100% hardwood beams. The high back with the end grain wood gives the benches a robust appearance. Stainless steel panels are mounted around the benches to close them off completely.
