Insect hotels
The bees, beetles, butterflies, flies and other insects have not been doing well for a long time. These critters are invaluable to nature, but are disappearing more and more. In order to counteract the decline in the insect population, it is important to give insects space. We do that with our insect hotels.
The origin of the material
During the production of the benches, Grijsen is left with pieces of wood. These wood residues are of very high quality and have a sustainably grown origin, FSC, or responsibly harvested native wood. In the past, this residual wood went into the stove. This is no longer what we want today. We strive to use our raw materials as sustainably as possible. Reuse, recycling and the circular economy are concepts that more and more organizations and people are working on. This gave Grayen the idea to do something useful with our residual wood: use it in an insect hotel.
