A circular economy is essential if we want to prevent depleting the Earth’s resources. Moreover, it is a vital tool in the fight against climate change. That’s why Grijsen explicitly prioritizes circularity as a guiding principle. We continuously evaluate the composition of our products, focusing on both construction and material selection.

Litter bins
A deposit bracket, also known as a deposit holder, is a steel attachment that is fixed to a waste bin. It allows passersby to leave empty deposit bottles and cans so that others can collect and return them in a dignified way. This system helps reduce litter and promotes recycling.
Grijsen’s deposit holder is designed with a universal mounting system, making it easy to attach to the side of almost any public waste bin. Follow the steps below to correctly install the holder on a Grijsen waste bin.
Our litter bins are available in various capacities, ranging from 50 liters to 240 liters. These capacities are designed to meet different needs and environments. Whether you are looking for a compact litter bin for a park or require a larger capacity for a busy city square, we have the right option for every location. The choice of the right capacity depends on various factors.
At Grijsen, we offer different types of door panels for our waste bins, each with unique features and aesthetics. The available panels are:
- Studded panel
- Marquise panel
- Corten steel panel
- Checker plate
- Panel with wooden cladding
- Smooth panel
Yes, at Grijsen, we offer various options to personalize litter bins, including adding a logo.
At Grijsen, you can have our waste bins powder-coated in any RAL color. This two-layer powder coating ensures durability and color retention. Whether you prefer a subtle shade or a bold color, we have options for every need. This allows our waste bins to fit perfectly into any environment.
Outdoor benches/ picnic sets/ wall top seats / tree benches
Choosing appropriate seating goes beyond placing a bench somewhere. Several factors come into play to reach a good decision where you make smart investments.

Yes, we do. When ordering, we always provide a standard recommendation for the most suitable concrete foundation for the chosen street furniture.
If this foundation does not fit the situation on site, we look together at which foundation is really suitable. This usually depends on the ground, possible underground pipes, or other circumstances.
At Grijsen, we primarily distinguish between two different placement methods relative to the ground level: mounting on ground level or mounting below ground level.
Yes, at Grijsen, we are happy to collaborate with our clients. We frequently receive requests to adapt picnic tables to create a more inclusive public space. This can be done in various ways.
Yes, we are very flexible and customer-oriented in our approach. We understand that every location is unique, and a standard design is not always the best solution. Therefore, we are open to adjustments to our standard designs to meet specific needs. For many of our models, it is possible to adjust the length of the furniture. This can be useful if the bench needs to fit in a specific spot or if more seating space is required than a standard model provides.
Yes, Grijsen offers a wide range of outdoor benches with both backrests and armrests. For almost every bench series, there is a variant available with a backrest. Additionally, there are models with armrests as well.
Tree grates
Steel tree grates can be powder coated in a standard RAL colour of your choice. This naturally offers plenty of options for matching the surroundings.
The disadvantage of powder-coated steel tree grates is that they become slippery more quickly in damp conditions than tree grates made of Corten steel or cast iron.
The weight capacity of a tree grate depends on the model and dimensions of the grate. In Grijsen's standard range, this varies from 15kN to 50kN.
At 15kN, it can support the weight of a passenger car.
At 50kN, it can support the weight of a truck.
The tree grates in Grijsen's standard range are available in various sizes and shapes. Most tree grates come in round or square models. Depending on the model, the dimensions of a tree grate can range from 1.2 to 2.0 meters.
Material and maintenance
We recommend that administrators of Grijsen street furniture periodically follow our maintenance advice at least twice a year. For locations by the coast, we advise performing maintenance at least four times a year.
This depends on the sustainability class of the wood type. The (untreated) hardwood that Grijsen uses in street furniture is classified in the highest sustainability class (sustainability class 1). Further treatment or preservation is not necessary.
On the other hand, Douglas fir is treated. The properties of the wood make it less suitable for untreated use in public spaces. The Douglas fir undergoes a special preservation process based on vacuum pressure. The impregnated elements have increased durability and belong to sustainability classes 2/3.
At Grijsen, we consciously choose to use tropical hardwood in our street furniture. Tropical hardwood, sourced from countries in Latin America or Africa, offers unique properties that make it highly suitable for public spaces.
Grijsen uses various high-quality types of wood for the production of street furniture. Each type of wood has unique properties that make it suitable for use in public spaces. Grijsen uses both hardwoods, modified woods, and native woods.
Street furniture gradually loses its appearance over the years due to weather conditions and usage. Even with the best materials, this cannot be entirely avoided. However, regular cleaning and maintenance done correctly will help preserve its appearance for longer.
We recommend performing periodic maintenance according to our maintenance guidelines. These guidelines provide details on how to properly care for the furniture, including choosing the right cleaning products for various materials (such as hardwood, coated steel, stainless steel, etc.).
To maintain the visual quality and aesthetic appeal of our products, we advise following the maintenance guidelines periodically, at least twice a year, and at least four times a year in coastal areas.
