Workshops voor het ontwerp
To come to sensible measures that make staying at school more attractive, students and teachers have been involved through workshops. More seating, more plants, and more color were the suggestions for the exterior. The redesign includes concrete elements as a basis for benches and planted areas finished with wooden seating. The planting beds with greenery make the square more attractive and climate-proof. The drinking water poles and table tennis tables encourage the pupils to adopt healthier behavior.
A dynamic schoolyard
Grijsen was called in to produce and place the wooden seating on the concrete elements. A combination of long benches and freestanding pouf elements has been chosen. The long benches create solid lines and emphasize the diagonal of the square which creates a dynamic image. The pouf elements create an individual and playful character and refine the overall picture. The wood used is untreated and will in the course of time naturally gray. In this way, the benches fit perfectly into the new green image of the square. As soon as the greenery starts to grow and blossom, the picture will be complete and the students of the Eckartcollege will be able to sit outside on the new furniture and enjoy the new square.
