Hengelo was in their search for a bin with possibilities for waste separation. They came to the Quadrat Duo from Grijsen. The bin consists of two different fractions with each its inner container. This makes it possible to separate the different waste streams. This bin is characterized by its cubist shape.

A doubling of the Quadrat 70

Normally, the Quadrat litter bin from Grijsen is delivered in a single fraction. For the litter bins in Hengelo, a double variant has been chosen. The doors of this litter bin can be opened separately, making it easy to empty the bin. The austere hood with corten steel body fits perfectly in its new surroundings. The corten steel is protected naturally by the creation of an oxide skin. This oxide skin shields the deeper-lying material from oxygen so that oxidation is strongly delayed.

Stimulating waste separation

The municipality of Hengelo was looking for a way to stimulate waste separation. The choice was made to display the two types of waste streams 'on' the door panel. This was done by cutting out a piece of text in combination with a recognizable sign. The texts 'Remainder' and 'Plastic packaging, tins and drinking packs' have been cut out of the door panels. A black metal plate has been mounted on the back of the panel to accentuate the text. This makes it clear to everyone what each fraction is for.
