Jakobusschule in Karlsruhe opts for a schoolyard with Lounge elements
For the refurbishment of the schoolyard of the Evangelische Jakobusschule in Karlsruhe, Grijsen has supplied benches from the Lounge series. In total, this project involved ten outdoor benches in two different designs: one element with an entirely wooden seating area and one element with a seating area of half wood. These elements have been placed in the schoolyard of the Jakobusschule. From now on the pupils of this primary school can comfortably pass the break.

The advantage of the Lounge elements is the fact that no additional concrete elements need to be made. Nor is it necessary to pour concrete on site. The concrete is already part of the design. This brings a great advantage. It saves time. The concrete does not have to harden first. The finished elements can be installed on-site last. The proverbial icing on the cake. After installation of the elements, they can be put into use immediately.
Another advantage: the components can be placed either separately or directly next to each other. This allows for creative play in the positioning of the Lounge benches. Create one long bench by placing all the elements next to each other or spread the benches out over different places in a location, to create several small seating areas.
De Lounge op het lijstje
Most of the elements in our Lounge series mainly consist of two materials: a concrete base with a wooden mattress as a seat. The series consists of four different shapes with the same characteristics: urban and robust, but with a friendly appearance. This solid combination of concrete and wood and the many associated advantages of the series has put it at the top of the list of many urban planners! Also with the designers of the Karlsruhe site.
