Inviting esplanade with attractive benches on the Van Schaeck Mathonsingel
The current Esplanade in Nijmegen used to be a wide green strip that made only a limited contribution to the urban quality and liveability. For the redevelopment, Grijsen was approached for the design. Above the parking garage in Nijmegen, an urban meeting place has emerged that exudes tranquillity, design, and quality.

Esplanade
Together with the contractor we designed the Esplanade as an open and inviting square/promenade. In the soft-edge concrete partitions along the square, custom-made slatted benches were integrated, functioning as social meeting points.
