Parklets: A simple solution for greener cities
A parklet is straightforward: mobile street furniture that creates more green spaces and seating in the city. Perfect for narrow, busy streets like Hartstraße in Geldern (D), where there’s no room for trees. With planters, seating, and extra bike racks, it becomes a place where people can meet and relax.

Practical Design and Durable Materials
This parklet measures 6 by 2 meters and is built to last. We use 100% FSC-certified hardwood and a solid base of hot-dip galvanized, double powder-coated steel. All visible steel parts are finished in anthracite grey (RAL 7016), so the whole blends nicely into its surroundings.
The parklet features two benches with backrests and two without, all from our Plane series. Together with a table and two planters, this creates a comfortable seating area. The bike rack offers secure parking. A street-side fence provides extra safety from traffic.
Sustainable and Modular
The modular design consists of three separate sections, making transport and installation simple. This setup is flexible and sustainable: parts are easy to replace or repair, which extends the system’s lifespan and saves resources. Thanks to this structure, the parklet can also be quickly moved, for example for a street festival.
Flexible and Accessible for Everyone
With an extra curb, the parklet in Geldern is completely barrier-free. This means the space is accessible for everyone, including wheelchair users. Practical, flexible, and open to the whole city.
Investing Together in a Greener City
This project has been made possible through grants and donations. The LEADER region “Leistende Landschaft e.V.” is funding 80% of the parklet. In this way, Geldern and the community are investing in more greenery, liveability, and a sustainable city. A clear sign that the city is committed to an attractive and accessible living environment.
