A beautiful outdoor space for Republic Offices
The Republic Offices complex in Nieuwegein has undergone a major transformation. The complex had to become a meeting place where you want to come, a so-called Socialhub. There are beautiful images of the result. Architect D/Dock was responsible for this metamorphosis. Inside, several new facilities were created such as a restaurant and co-working facilities. In the future, community meetings will also be organized to connect the established companies. Besides the interior, the facade and the exterior of the building could also use a refresh.

Landscape architect Burobol was brought in for the design of the outdoor space. The design of Republic Offices is based on the High Line Park in New York. The park-like setting with flowers, plants, and trees offers added value in many ways. The building and the outdoor space form one whole. The building is therefore much more to its credit and has gained in charisma. The view over the Merwedekanaal should certainly not be forgotten. Employees can lunch and work in these beautiful natural surroundings. And that is exactly what happens. The reactions are purely positive. People love coming here. They call it a pleasant place to be. Because of the special atmosphere and the practical possibilities, the focus is even on the park. There are deliberately chosen for sightlines that end there.
Grijsen's part in this project
Among other things, Grijsen was responsible for the complete wooden decking that runs along the entire width of the building. In addition, various seating and lying elements have been placed. A wooden walkway has been created for better accessibility by public transport. All wooden elements are made of Cumaru wood for a consistent look. This hardwood species is very durable and has a unique appearance. Finally, Grijsen also took care of the planters and plant areas, which Zoontjens Boomprojecten then planted.
