An attractive outdoor space for ambitious entrepreneurs

Individuality and recognizability at BolDuc

A wonderful example of customization can be found in the custom project that Grijsen realized for BolDuc. BolDuc is known as the Office of the Future and is a beautiful characteristic office building, located along with the A2 in 's-Hertogenbosch, which was realized in 1995. The owner of the site thought it was time for a complete upgrade of the building and outdoor space. The exterior space was completely dominated by traffic and possessed little residential quality. Led by project manager Sander Scheepers of vb&t, Esther Kruit of http://www.kruitkok.nl/ created a design for the outdoor space in close consultation with architect Wim Lindenbergh of Studio Y. One of the main ideas for the site was to create 'nests'; characteristic and intimate seating areas equipped with all facilities.

"In the run-up to this project, I had a lot of contact with Sander Scheepers and Esther Kruit and, from the client Achmea Vastgoed, with Jeroen Rutsen," says André Hoeks, Outdoor Space Advisor at Grijsen. "This close contact was mainly about how we could convert the design sketches into a feasible and affordable design. Together we designed the unique seating elements".

Beautiful both during the day and in the evening

These special benches are elliptical and every detail has been taken into account. The joints in the bench are all the same because each beam is sawn in tabs. The backrest is in the transverse direction on the bench. This not only provides comfort but also emphasizes the beautiful elliptical shape. For optimal ease of use, the benches are equipped with a power supply. This makes it possible to work outside in good weather. In the evening, the benches are beautifully illuminated using a LED strip.

The concrete retaining walls in this office garden have, in addition to plant pots, been given an extra function by the fact that we have created several seating areas, partly with a backrest. This applies to both the straight retaining walls and the curved retaining walls. This way, the seating elements follow the slope of the wall. To keep the garden clean, the Constructo litterbin has been placed in different spots. This litterbin is provided with a front panel with the name BolDuc in it, which fits nicely in the chic look of the office complex. Butt poles have been placed at various places for smokers.

"Thanks to the excellent cooperation between vb&t, KruitKok, and Grijsen, and thanks to BTL who redesigned the grounds, we can look back on a very successful garden that has exceeded the expectations of both client and user", says André.

BolDuc is just one example of the many customized projects that Grijsen has realized. An example that shows that customization does optimal justice to the outdoor space.
