Son en Breugel separates waste in their public space
The municipality of Son en Breugel opts for separation in public spaces! By doing so the municipality is also collecting reusable raw materials separately in the outdoor area and is combating litter.

The municipality has chosen the Column 200 litter bin from Grijsen. This litterbin has two openings, one for residual waste and one for PMD (like cans, plastic bottles, plastic trays).
For Son en Breugel it is a logical choice to also start with waste separation in the public area. At home, at school, and associations the residents already collect their waste separately. So why not in the public space'', says Jan van den Braak of Son en Breugel council. Separate sorting is already going very well in those places. But because it's a bit different in public spaces and people want to get rid of their waste quickly without thinking too much about it, the decision was made to only collect residual waste and plastic separately. You have to think about it, a plastic container for chips can go in the orange opening for PMD, while the paper cone of chips has to go in the grey opening for residual waste''.

'Together we keep Son en Breugel clean'
In addition to the colors orange and grey, which indicate which waste stream must go in which opening, the front panel of the bin features the text 'Together we keep Son and Breugel clean' (Dutch: Samen houden we Son en Breugel schoon) and the logo of the municipality, accentuated with maize yellow.
Grijsen's newly chosen litter bin is larger, which means that more waste can be collected from the same location than before. This means that the bin has to be emptied less often. Thanks to the hood, it is also impossible for birds to remove the waste from the bin.
The municipality has placed 12 bins for separate waste collection at busy locations such as the shopping center and Ekkersrijt.
