Lasting memorial in October 24 Square
March 18, 2019, Utrecht was shocked by an attack on random civilians in the streetcar on the 24 Oktoberplein. A desire soon arose among the city's residents to create a lasting place of remembrance, where to reflect on what happened on March 18 and remember the victims.

'The Golf' is rendered with edges of stone running in an arc through the grass. The first edge runs around the tree that formed the core of the sea of flowers. The edges are accompanied with ornamental plantings. There are a number of these edges and planting strips in succession, so that together they represent the shock wave. The stone edges are suitable for sitting on. This provides peace and space to stand still and express feelings.
Small paths through "De Golf" have been laid out so that people can walk through the greenery and sit in different places. There are also a number of new trees around the memorial site that bloom in early spring - around March 18. Lighting has been installed in 'De Golf' so that it is also a safe place after dark.
